- "I keep an open mind. My experiences can be the same as yours when you arrive in Japan, or maybe they won't be. Either way, despite everything you read on the Japan blogosphere, make your interpretation of Japan your own. I didn't when I first arrived here, and I have no one to blame but myself for that. I am a runner in Japan. I am the adventurer. I am the thrill seeker. I want to meet people. I want to explore the wonders of this culture, and perhaps become a part of it myself. If you're interested in an intelligent, fast-paced American perspective on Japan, look no further. Or do; it's your choice."
- A blog from an American living in Japan.
- The most common road to Japan is that of the English teacher - work in elementary, junior, and senior high schools across Japan teaching English to Japanese students. There are other roads of course, but this was mine. For those who do end up living here, we find that there's a lot more to life in the Land of the Rising Sun than anything you may have conjured up in your wildest dreams. This is my story.
- Chris Ballard is an English Conversation teacher who decided that it would be best to start his own little school in a small city called Yanai in Yamaguchi pref. This is a "private" school in every sense. Students must be accepted as apposed to simply "joining". A lot of emphasis is placed on practical and current types of communicating in English. The school is constantly measuring the students against themselves and fellow students. The results after 3 years is some of the best English speaking students around.
